CEMA Launches the Monitor and Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance in Kenya Project
According to researchers, AMR could kill up to 10 million people by the year 2050. A 2019 Lancet report estimated global deaths associated with bacterial AMR of close to 5 million people.

With experts drawn from the units of Infectious Diseases at the Department of Medicine, Virologists, Epidemiologists and the School of Computing. CEMA is involved in range of research with several partners. The aim is to generate local data that informs clinical practice and policy. Our clinical research work spans several areas

COVID 19

Leading the development of case management guidelines and mentorship of health care workers on case management

Antimicrobial Resistance

Improving identification, management and control of Candida auris in a Kenyan Hospital.

Antimicrobial Stewardship

Supporting the development of policies and strategies for surveillance of antibiotic use and consumption.

HIV

Working with the National AIDS and STI Control program (NASCOP) to improve HIV care in Kenya and develop evidence based guidelines on antiretroviral therapy.

Data

Improving generation, extraction, visualisation and use of clinical data to improve care and resource allocation

Training

Training on data analysis, data wrangling and opportunities to engage in epidemiological and clinical research.
