Dr. Loice Ombajo is a Physician and Infectious Disease Specialist. Loice is also a Senior Lecturer in Internal Medicine at the University of Nairobi and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She heads the Infectious Diseases Unit at the Kenyatta National Hospital and is the chair of the KNH antimicrobial stewardship committee at the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Interagency Technical committee where she heads the technical working group on antimicrobial use. She also offers clinical expertise to various HIV treatment failure technical working groups. During the COVID-19 outbreak, she has offered leadership at KNH in clinical care, mentorship and training of clinicians around the country responding to consults on patient care from all over the country. She has sat in the COVID-19 national task force offering advisory on the national response to both the National Emergency Response Committee and the National task force, has led the writing of the COVID- 19 National case management guidelines, the IPC guidelines, the HRH guidelines, the testing protocols etc Also leading various research to inform the case management of COVID-19. Has played a key role in public education on various platforms including TV, radio and newspapers.
