Joy is an award-winning Health and Medicine Journalist with over 15 years of hands-on newsroom experience inside Kenya’s biggest media house, the Nation Media Group Limited, and also inside Kenya’s oldest media house, The Standard Group Plc. She also worked as the Health and Medicine editor for The Conversation Africa, UNICEF, World Health Organisation, and the British Broadcasting Corporation.
Joy holds a Master of Public Health degree, from Moi University, and is a dedicated, talented, and immensely creative communications specialist with a commitment to high-quality research, writing, and health communication. She is dedicated to data storytelling and breaking complex narratives into simple and relatable stories in a fast-moving, daily news environment. As a health journalist, she has a knack for excellent reporting, interviewing skills, and award-winning writing techniques, demonstrating that she greatly cares about people and facts. She is currently a Graduate Student at Washington State University taking a course in Health Communication and Promotion. In addition to English and Swahili, she also speaks French, Japanese, and Chinese and has skills in Kenyan Sign Language for the hearing impaired.
