Oliver Munyao is a seasoned software developer and health informatics expert with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi. With over 12 years of dedicated experience in health information systems and data management, he has played a pivotal role in the design, development, and enhancement of digital health solutions across Kenya and beyond.

Munyao has been instrumental in the maintenance and advancement of the Kenya Health Information System (KHIS) and the Kenya Master Health Facility Registry (KMHFR) since 2012. His expertise has been key in ensuring interoperability with other national and partner systems, contributing to a more integrated and efficient health data ecosystem.

Beyond KHIS, Munyao has supported the development and implementation of various DHIS2 instances, including systems in Mozambique, Mauritius, and the Uswazi HMIS platform. His international contributions underscore his versatility and commitment to improving health information systems at both national and regional levels.

He has also collaborated on over 10 research initiatives, including notable studies such as the IDSR Disease Surveillance in Kenya, and The COVID-19 Pandemic and Disruptions to Essential Health Services in Kenya: A Retrospective Time-Series Analysis.

In addition to his technical contributions, Munyao is an active community member, involved in entrepreneurship and ICT empowerment initiatives aimed at driving digital inclusion.

With a growing passion for data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, Munyao is enthusiastic about applying cutting-edge technologies to health challenges. He is committed to supporting the CEMA team in ensuring the seamless operation of its applications, driving research, mentoring emerging professionals, and leading continuous systems improvement and innovation.
