Kongo has joined CEMA as a Data Science Intern, where he supports various CEMA projects. His responsibilities include, but are not limited to, using data analytics and programming skills particularly in R to analyze data; supporting the acquisition, validation, cleaning, and wrangling of health and health-related datasets; applying statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to extract insights and patterns; and developing data visualizations and dashboards to effectively communicate scientific findings.
Vincent holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Statistics with IT from Maseno University and a Master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in South Africa, in partnership with Stellenbosch University. Throughout his academic journey, he has engaged with individuals from diverse backgrounds, an experience that has broadened his perspective and strengthened his resolve to apply data-driven solutions to critical challenges facing communities in Kenya particularly in the health sector.
Vincent has held several leadership roles at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has been actively involved in mentoring undergraduate students. He is also committed to climate action, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action), and advocates for initiatives to combat climate change and its impacts.
Outside of work, Vincent enjoys traveling, staying updated on current world affairs, exploring different cultures and traditions, and learning new languages.
