Wafula Wekesa George is a health financing specialist with extensive experience in advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and strengthening health systems in Kenya. He led the drafting and rollout of the Facility Improvement Fund (FIF) Act, 2023, and has supported all 47 counties in implementing key UHC financing reforms.
Wekesa holds an MSc (Ongoing) in Health Economics and Policy from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Development Studies (Project Management) from the Management University of Africa, and a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
He is certified in Program-Based Budgeting, Performance-Based Financing, and other specialized health financing and public health trainings. He has coordinated multi-partner initiatives with USAID, FCDO, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), promoting equitable and efficient health systems.
Outside work, George is an avid cyclist, an ardent Arsenal fan, enjoys rugby, and has a deep appreciation for nature
