Dr. Gurdeep Jaswant
PhD Fellow
Quick Facts
Gurdeep is pursuing a Ph.D. in Tropical and Infectious Diseases at the University of Nairobi Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases. Her Ph.D. study is focused on developing and optimizing methods for genomic surveillance of the rabies virus in East Africa with the aim of addressing timely applied questions about the transmission, spread, and persistence, and diversity of the rabies virus in East Africa. Her Ph.D. is jointly supervised by Prof Katie Hampson and Dr. Kirstyn Brunker from the University of Glasgow and is funded through the Wellcome Trust and the NIHR Application of Genomics and Modelling to the Control of Virus Pathogens (GeMVi) project.
