Epidemiology and Economics

Margaret Wanyeki Nganga is a National Disease Surveillance Officer at Division of Disease Surveillance and Epidemic Response , Kenya National Public Health Institute (KNPHI). In this role, she coordinates and supports the timely detection, investigation, and response to disease outbreaks while contributing to the development of epidemiological bulletins and public health reports.

She has over 10 years of experience in public health, including Laboratory Specialty in Tuberculosis diagnosis, improvement and maintenance of Laboratory Quality Management Systems. Margaret has been actively involved in developing National policy documents, guidelines, and strategies, Evaluation and strengthening of Surveillance systems, and building capacity among health workers.

She holds a Master’s degree in Infectious Diseases from Kenyatta University, a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, intermediate-level Epidemiology training from the Kenya Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP), and a Diploma in Health Systems Management. She is currently undertaking the 4-month CEMA Infectious Disease Modelling Fellowship Program, aiming to enhance her ability to analyze outbreak trends and support data-driven decision-making in her daily work.
Beyond work, Margaret enjoys gardening, and taking peaceful nature walks.
