Maria is a passionate Pediatrician and Child Health specialist dedicated to the holistic care of both children and their families. Driven by a profound desire to make impactful contributions to healthcare systems, she is interested in epidemiology and health policy development. She currently collaborates with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders as a national trainer on the implementation of Integrated Management of Malnutrition (IMAM) guidelines and other projects. With a background that uniquely combines over 10 years of clinical practice, field epidemiology and leadership and management, Maria aims to deepen her expertise in the economics of public health and apply data-driven approaches to optimise the use of health resources and inform health policy for both patients and healthcare workers. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, an MBA in strategic management, and a Master of Medicine in Pediatrics and Child Health from the University of Nairobi. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Occupational Health and Safety at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology. Maria joins CEMA as an Infectious Disease Modelling fellow.
